1791 Town of Jericho formed and officials elected 4-19-1791
1813 Church and meeting house burned.
1814 Town’s name changed to Bainbridge from Jericho
1829 Village of Bainbridge chartered. Richard Juliand elected as first Village president, election held May 5, by-laws for Village adopted on May 28
1857 South Bainbridge renamed Afton
1919 Borden buys Casein Co. Factory
1924 American Plastics formed
1966 On January 7, a freight train heading to Albany jumped the tracks at the downtown rail crossing. Several track side structures and houses, including the Fire House, were destroyed. The crossing guard and his wife were killed in their home (next to the tracks) and many others were injured.
1971 Marshal Andrews, Village Clerk, retires after 31 years of service.
1981 Police Chief Bill Payne retires after 40 years of service to the Village.
2006 From June June 26 through June 28 the combination of tropical moisture and a stalled cold front produced record river flooding across portions of the Upper Susquehanna, Delaware and Chenango River Basins. River level reached 27 feet in Bainbridge.
